The Locride is the name by which you identify an area in the province of Reggio Calabria Ionian side of Calabria. The coastal area is called Costa dei gelsomini. There are a few of the many sites of historical and archaeological interest exist: go back to the time of Magna Graecia excavations of Locri Epizephiri and Kaulon, to Roman the Roman villa of Casignana, the archaeological site and the Home of Gioiosa Ionica, while the Byzantine era dates from the Cathedral of Gerace, the Cattolica of Stilo and the monastery of Santa Barbara of violet, now used as a park, Museum of modern art by international artist Nik Spatari. By many historians and art critics the Parco Museo Santa Barbara is considered one of the most important museums of modern art internationally.
