The Cascata del Marmarico is the highest waterfall of Calabria and of the southern Apennines, is 114 meters high. Is found in the upper course of the river Stilaro, al vallone Folea. The place has the same name as the surrounding cascade, below it there is a small pond. Is located in the municipality of Bivongi (RC). From September 6, 2011 was included among the "worldwide wonders" of the project with the same name, born on the occasion of the 150° of the unification of Italy, cultural tourists of the National Youth Forum. The waterfall can be reached from Bivongi in the first section with a jeep in 20 minutes. Later, arrived at the confluence of the Walloon Folea and Ruggiero, continue to the second walk for 20 minutes following the path of the Folea. To complete the entire journey on foot are needed 2 hours of walking. Each year the club MedAmbiente Bivongi in late July offers this itinerary for the cleaning and maintenance of the route.
