Pordenone is 24 metres above sea level in the Friuli plain. This beautiful city has a mainly modern but preserves almost intact the ancient centre with Renaissance and Gothic style buildings and with lovely porticoes fresh painted externally. Has several monuments including the main ones are the Collegiata di San Marco. XV and the Town Hall of 1291 that also has a Renaissance Tower, seat of the picture gallery which possesses works of the Venetian School of 1500. In 1968 Pordenone became capital of the province. Since 1974 is also the episcopal see of the Diocese of Concordia-Pordenone. Since 1919 in Pordenone was located the Episcopal Seminary, with the school of theology. In recent years the city has become home to a University Consortium that offers university courses organized by the University of Udine and the University of Trieste. Also from the 2002 technology is active in promoting the culture of innovation in enterprises in the territory.
