Pianosa island is an island in the Tyrrhenian Sea, which is part of the Tuscan archipelago national park. Average size (10.3 km ²) than the other islands of the archipelago, located about 13 km southwest of the island, to which it is connected during the tourist season with regular navigation services. Included in the province of Livorno and administered by the municipality of Campo in Elba, Pianosa, as the name suggests, is the only island in the archipelago without hills and altogether flat (the highest point reaches 29 metres). The island, vaguely triangular shape, comes rocky coastlines to Sandy tracts, the main one is Cala San Giovanni (or Cala Giovanna), striking white sand beach where you can see also the ruins of a Roman villa. Its territory is in part a stain and partly cultivated with vineyards and olive trees.
