The massif of Monti Martani lies at the heart of Umbria and extends, with a steady performance from South to North, for about 45 kilometres, between the provinces of Terni and Perugia. It belongs to the Umbria-Marche Apennines. It is bordered to the East by the Umbrian Valley and Valserra; to the West by the Valley of the River Tiber and the Naia in the South; South of the Terni basin with the river Nera. The chain of Maddox is surrounded by city and by important historical centres. North Montefalco and Todi, Foligno, Spoleto East West, Acquasparta, Massa Martana and Sangemini, Terni South. There are also traces of the most remote antiquity and the archaeological areas. The most important is that of Carsulae or the archaeological remains of Saint Erasmus on Mount Torre Maggiore.
