Parma is located in Northern Italy, in the western part, between the Apennines and the Po Valley. The city is divided in two by the Parma river, a tributary of the Po that, just before entering the heart of the historic center, receives the waters of tributary Baganza. The Museum offers a journey that parm offer reveals the history, traditions, but also the flavors with a extracittadino circuit that also includes knowledge of food and wine of the territory. Built between the 11th and 12th centuries near the Roman city walls and instead of the ancient basilica, the Cathedral is one of the major works of Romanesque architecture in Italy and the dome was painted by Correggio. At the side of the Bell Tower, on the same square, stands the baptistery of Benedetto Antelami, an imposing pink marble monument that marks the transition from Romanesque to Gothic. These two structures represent the most important and symbolic monuments of the city. In and around, turning perspective eastward, through the Bell Tower of the Cathedral and Baptistery, one can see the façade and the Bell Tower of the Abbey of San Giovanni Evangelista a monastery with its church whose dome was frescoed by Correggio.
