Forlì is the capital of the province of Forlì-Cesena and is located at 34 metres above sea level. The original nucleus, Forum Livii was founded by the Consul Livius Salinator after his victory over Hasdrubal at metaurus, Ghibelline commune in the 11th century, was later the lordship of Ordelaffi in XIV-XV century. Among the major buildings include the Palazzo del Podestà (with three Gothic arches decorated with terracotta, 1460), the Town Hall and the Romanesque church of San Mercuriale, started in 1178 but altered later. Forlì lies in the Po plain, more precisely in Romagna, 5 km away from the hills of the Tuscan-Romagna amounts waived and about 26 km from the Adriatic coast. The periphery is washed by the river Montone, which receives the waters of the river Vecchiazzano district Rabbi, then lick the walls at Porta Schiavonia, and the river that runs through the eponymous suburb of the city of Ronco.
