The Matese regional park is a protected natural area of Campania. The territory of the Matese consists of a chain of mountains mainly calcareous soil, situated between Molise and Campania. It is an area rich in wild places, populated by Wolves and Golden Eagles, landscapes, Lakes cakes from the azure waters where are reflected the mountaintops, original and well preserved historical centers, so much history, also made relations tense between the Romans and Samnites, always genuine typical products, unique and tasty. The Park occupies an area of 33326.53 hectares, along a northeast-southwest axis, which by the valleys of the rivers Sava and Lete, runs for about 50 km to the Valley of the Tammaro River, in the province of Benevento. This alignment is also followed by the main mountains: the Monte Miletto, Gallinola and Mutria. The richness of the pastures, in particular, has allowed considerable development of sheep farming which, together with the agriculture and forest exploitation, has been in the past, the main source of income of the local populations.
