Lake Viverone is the third largest lake in the Piedmont Region, located in the southern part of the Province of Biella and also bordering the Province of Turin, Italy. It is a lake of glacial origin, formed during the Quaternary era (as well as the many lakes close to the Alps), equipped with underground emissaries and emissaries. In addition to being an important fish and tourist resource, Lake Viverone is an important archaeological site of prehistoric bronze age finds. In 2005, it was recognised as a site of Community interest. It is located in the eastern hilly part of the Serra Morenica in Ivrea, and is located 230 meters above sea level. One sixth of its area falls in the province of Turin (under the municipality of Azeglio), while the remaining 5/6 are located in the Province of Biella (under the Municipality of Viverone). The municipality of Piverone overlooks the north-western shore of the lake, with the hamlet of Lido di Anzasco, but its territory does not include the body of water, but is limited to the coastal strip only.
