Iglesias is situated at the South-western coast of Sardinia, in a land where pulsano unchallenged nature and history. Situated at the foot of Mount Marganai, the city has always been linked to mining activity, which since prehistoric times has exploited the rich mineral of these areas. The ancient name of the town was Villa di Chiesa but then, under the aragonese it was translated into Iglesias meaning "Church", and could not exist more appropriate name, given the large number of churches in the area: the Church of San Marcello, the pure, the Church of Sant'Antonio Abate, of St. Joseph and many more. Who will stay in the city in summer, cannot refrain from swimming in the nearby sea: the beaches alternate with inlets, extending for several kilometers, surrounded by typical Mediterranean vegetation, offering natural corners of peace and well-being.
