Pistoia in Tuscany, one of the richest in history, is home to a plethora of monuments that testify to the cultural spirit Pistoia has always been cradle. To begin from the sensational Duomo, rebuilt on a very ancient nucleus in the 13th century, the Portico dating from the XIV century and the charming decorations by Andrea della Robbia, and traces of frescoes inside, embellish the Cathedral Tuscany, although the most important detail is the Cappella di San Jacopo, containing the altar frontal of San Jacopo in silver, one of the most unique world heritage jewels. The city is also surrounded by fourteenth-century walls that originally included four gates: Porta al Borgo, Porta San Marco, Porta Carratica and Porta Lucchese but them no trace remains as demolished in the early twentieth century. Also the Medici fortress of Santa Barbara, built in the 16th century by the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
